You can register as a drone operator if:
 
  • You are over 18 years old and have full legal capacity.
  • You have your primary residence or, for legal entities, your principal place of business in Austria, or if you are a third-country operator (outside the EU member states, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein) and plan your first UAS operation in Austria.
  • You have insurance coverage for operating the drone(s) that meets the requirements of the Austrian Aviation Act.

Important: To operate a drone in Austria, you must have insurance coverage that complies with the requirements of the Austrian Aviation Act. 

The minimum coverage amount must be at least 750,000 Special Drawing Rights (SDR).
Please note that insurance requirements may differ for drone operations in other EU countries.
