Pre-flight preparation

The Austro Control Dronespace system offers you numerous features to simplify your drone flight planning.
When you open the Austro Control Dronespace system, the interactive map displays color-coded zones indicating any flight restrictions that must be considered prior to commencing your flight:

Quick Check and flight plan submission

To determine which flight restrictions apply to your operation, you can perform a “Quick Check” using the flight planning feature and then submit your flight plan directly within the Austro Control Dronespace system. This is done through a 3-step process:

  1. Define your flight geometry (i.e., flight route)
  2. Enter flight details and your contact information
  3. Review a summary of applicable airspace restrictions

Flight execution

The color of your flight plan indicates its current status and sequentially follows the steps shown below.
Please note that your flight plan is only considered active once it reaches the green “Flying” status.
Within a control zone, receiving the “Flying” status confirms take-off clearance from air traffic control.

If you have submitted a flight plan via the Austro Control Dronespace system—for example, for a flight within a control zone—please always check whether you have received a message from air traffic control. These messages will be displayed in the Dronespace app.

Please note that you must always comply with the content of these messages.
After reading, confirm the message in the app.
